- Owner:
- Valley
Broadcasting Inc.
- History:
- This station
dates back to an original construction permit issued to Country Boy
Broadcasting, Inc. in May 1991, for a 3 kW Class A station licensed
to Rogersville. The transmitter site was originally much
closer to the Tennessee state line, but after several modifications,
it signed on in 1994 from a site closer to Florence. The Broadcasting
Yearbook lists the initial format as Classic Rock, with the
WFIX call sign. Shoals Broadcasting acquired the station in
1997 for $400,000. They flipped the station to a commercial
Contemporary Christian music format.
Around May 2000, the station took over the operations of WBHL on
91.3 MHz, a noncommercial station doing Beautiful Music and
Oldies. The Contemporary Christian music and WFIX calls
migrated there, and this station flipped to Sports Talk as WYTK "The
Score". The station was acquired by Valley Broadcasting in
September 2002 for $900,000.
