- Owner:
- Jefferson Davis State
Jr. College
- History:
- This station appears to
have come on the air in October 1986 under the ownership of Jefferson
Davis State Junior College in Brewton. The station may have been
student-run, featuring a diverse mix of musical styles typical of
college radio stations. The studio was somewhere on Alco Drive (possible
the Student Center or the Neal Colonial Center). This was the
area's first local public radio station. The Radio
Yearbook lists Lee Bain as the General Manager and Rhonda
McK-Hangler as the Program Director during the station's short
lifetime. In addition to a diverse lineup of music, the station
also carried some educational programming. The college gave up
the license in 1994 and the station left the airwaves.
The frequency was not used again until 1998 when Maranatha Ministries
Foundation won a permit for a new station licensed to Brewton.
