- History:
- This is a fairly
distant rimshot into the Florence area that provides secondary
coverage to the far western parts of the radio market. This station
was spawned by 1350 WKCU in Corinth in January, 1967 as a class A that
duplicated most of the AM's Top 40 programming, with the WKCU-FM
calls. In 1983 the calls became WXRZ and the station went adult
contemporary. In the mid 90s the station bumped up to a full 6
kW class A. The station was owned by a company called NMSC, Inc.
(The Progressive Radio Company?) until they filed for bankruptcy in
2000. During that bankruptcy period the station jumped to a class C3
with their current power and antenna location. Two years later,
the station was acquired by Telesouth and became a part of their
Supertalk Mississippi statewide network.
