- History:
- This daytimer
signed on in May 1982 as WIUA under the ownership of Bobby W.
Knight. The calls changed to WXBK in April of 1982. It's
unclear what the format was in the beginning, by the time the calls
became WXBK, the station was broadcasting a Christian music and talk
format. In 1999, King died and the station went up for
sale. It came into the ownership of MVB, Inc. in 2001. The
calls changed to WWGC in April of 2002. MVB, Inc. sold the
station to Quality Properties, LLC, in December 2006. Quality
Properties, LLC is operated by the Jeff Beck Media Group, who run
several east Alabama stations. The station acquired a
translator in the fall of 2015 from WAY-FM and got a permit to move
it from Mountain View to Albertville, but the permit was cancelled
in October of 2015 and never got built out.
