- History:
- Aframsouth was awarded a
construction permit for a new LPFM station in Montgomery in March
2015. They signed the station on with 100 watts of power from a
site off South Boulevard, behind the Life Changing Mission Outreach
building in March 2018. From the beginning, the station has been
community-oriented, with a mix of music and talk programming geared
towards the city's African American community.
The station filed to go silent in October 2018, citing loss of
electricity at the transmitter site. The station was off the air
for approximately five months. The same issue occurred again in
June 2019, and the station was off for approximately seven
months. After a third loss of electricity (and vandalism at the
transmitter site) in January 2021, the station was off again, and
sought a modification to move to a new transmitter site. That
was granted in April 2021.
The station appears to have signed back on in May 2021 from their new
site in a residential area off South Court Street. The
transmitter site is now located on a board member's property, with the
antenna on a pole in the back yard.
In November 2022, the organization was fined $1,500 for failure to
file a license renewal in a timely manner.
