Owned by Lockwood Broadcasting
- History:
- This station dates back
to May 1988, when it came on the air as a Fox affiliate for the Panama
City market on RF channel 28. Originally owned by Waitt Media,
the station was sold to Raycom in 2003. At one time, Fox 28
carried The Tube on its subchannel. As with most Raycom
stations, WPGX picked up Bounce TV when it debuted in 2011. Grit
TV was added to the lineup on 28.3 in the summer of 2014.
The station was briefly knocked off the air by Hurricane Michael in
October 2018.
Raycom Media and
Gray Television Inc. agreed to a merger in June 2016, for $3.6
billion. The merger was approved in December 2018. Due to
Gray and Raycom having too many stations in the market, they were
forced to divest this station; it was sold to Lockwood Broadcasting.
The station was slated to pick up the newly-relaunched Court TV in May
2019.
