- History:
- The WKNG-FM
calls were assigned in March of 2005 to Covenant Communications,
which is a noncommercial offshoot of the Graddick family, which owns
commercial stations WKNG, WLBB and WCKS in Carrollton,
Georgia. Originally covering Heflin with just 250 watts
of power, it had a construction permit for 1,000 watts vertical ERP
with a move to a higher site right in the heart of Anniston. That
permit expired in April, 2009. In May 2015 the station was
granted a power increase to 1,000 watts from the site transmitter
site in the middle of nowhere, and put that facility on the air in
October of 2015.
