Russellville. Co-located with WGOL.
Owned by Pilati Investments, Inc. (Karl Pilati)
// W228EC Russellville
- History:
- This station came on the
air as a 1 kW daytimer in 1974 under the ownership of Russellville
Broadcasting Company. In earlier days it had stints as Country
Christian (as "Power 1500") and Gospel under multiple owners before
eventually converting to a Spanish-language Christian music and
teaching format, possibly in 2006 after the station was sold to Pilati
Investments (Jimmie Pilati). The station acquired a new
construction permit for an FM translator in early February 2018 for a
broadcast on 93.5 MHz.
Karl Pilati took over operations of the station and company after the
death of Jimmie. Of interest is that Jimmie and Karl's son, John, was
a former District Attorney in Franklin County, and currently manages
sister station WGOL for the family.
In July 2022, the station filed for a transfer of license to Solo, LLC
(Moshiu Knox), who are planning to run a translator/HD combo outlet in
the Shoals at some point. The documentation was actually for a
LMA (Local Marketing Agreement), so the transfer was dismissed by the
FCC. Solo, LLC began programming the station at the end of that
same month with Gospel Music and Religious programming as "Winning
Worship Radio".
