History:

A construction permit for a new noncommercial educational station on 91.9 MHz was granted to Opp Educational Broadcasting Foundation in March 1985.  The facility from the station is the same as today, with no technical or format changes for the life of the station.  It signed on in August 1987 with a Southern Gospel/Religious format.  The call sign, WJIF, stands for "Where Joy Is Found", used as the station's slogan and name.
