History:
This frequency started off as WKZJ, licensed to Greenville, Georgia.  At one time it was Classic Rock "95.7 The River".

In 2005 the went through an upgrade, re-licensing to Waverly Hall and moving closer to Columbus.  That same year, the station swapped places with 92.7 in Eufaula.  That station took the WKZJ calls and this one became WIOL-FM.  After the change this station was "Mix 95.7" and had a Hot AC format.  In October 2009 the station began simulcasting the sports format on WEAM-AM out of Columbus (a station which later became WIOL-AM.)  Originally carrying programming from Yahoo! Sports Network, the station dropped both Yahoo! and "The Zone" nickname when they picked up ESPN.

In September 2020 the station's simulcast with WOIL (AM) was ended when that station and its FM translator switched formats.
