- History:
- Came on the air
in 1947 with the same calls it has today, which supposed stand for
"WE Be Jammin'". Was 250 watts in the late 50's, and
affiliated with both Mutual and Keystone networks.
Radio-Locator shows this station as operating with non-standard
hours. The station was owned for a long time by Dennis
Dunaway, who passed in July 2013. Known as "Big D", Dennis ran
the station and was a lifelong resident of Brewton. His wife
took over ownership of the station after his death, until April 2013
when ownership was transferred Chandler Dunaway.
In August 2020, Brewton Broadcasting Company transferred the license
to the Augustus Foundation, a Texas-based non-profit who owns a few
other stations around Alabama. The foundation was to pay $22,600; a
programming agreement began in December 2020 until the purchase was
to be paid off. In late November 2020, Brewton Broadcasting
Company filed to dismiss the license transfer.
On 14 July 2021 the FCC granted a Remain Silent Authority to the
station after they cited the loss of their transmitter site.
