- Signed on in
March of 1967. In 2007, the station's tower was destroyed by
an EF-3 rated tornado that was part of a larger outbreak on March 1st.
The
tower fell on and destroyed part of the transmitter building, so the
only way viewers can see the channel at the moment via cable or
satellite. It is expected that, once the station returns to the air,
the digital coverage will be similar to the analog coverage, and
serve the city of Columbus as good or better than the city's
"official" GPB
station, WJSP out of Warm Springs. Along with the rest of the GPB
network, shut down analog operations on February 17th,
2009.
