station, no license
- History:
- Unlike typical
TIS/traffic/weather stations which are licensed to government agencies
by the FCC, the National Park System operates but does not get
licenses for several TIS-style barker broadcasts on the AM band
across the US. This is the only one I'm aware of in the state
of Alabama. Elsewhere in the south, others can be found at
various points along the Natchez Trace Parkway in Mississippi.
This broadcast was first reported by local listeners as active in
March of 2009. Find out more about the park and the byway at
the National Park
Service website.
