107.9 was originally
WRPM-FM, a dreadfully bad home-brew automated easy listening station in
Poplarville, companion of WRPM AM. As a class C with potential to become
a competitor on the densely populated coast, it became WZKX as top 40 and
unseated then-dominant WQID (which later became WMJY). The station, known
as Kicks 108 as an AC, then went country as Kicker 108 to challence
dominant WKNN; the station was reallocated to Bay St. Louis.
