Originally WRES, a country
formatted station in Troy. At one point the station added half-hourly newsbreaks
from CNN. Later, the station moved its transmitter to the top of the WSFA-TV
tall tower, becoming (at that time) the station with the highest land based
transmitter in the country, at 1830 feet. It briefly tried rock for the
college-based populace of Troy, but it switched to black contemporary to
become the multi-market ratings dominating monster it is today.
