Started off as WRFS-FM,
simulcasting Alex City local AM WRFS-AM 1050. It was top 40 formatted and
had a relatively weak signal. The transmitter was moved southeast towards
Auburn, as a requisite for increasing power, which they did to enter the
Columbus, Georgia market. The signal also now easily penetrates the Montgomery
market, which already has enough country for any Alabama town. With the
power increase/tower move, the station became WSTH, South 106. In 1999,
the station changed nicknames from South 106 to Rooser 106, but no format
change came with the name change.
