93.3 originated as WDSU
FM, stepchild of WDSU AM 1280 and WDSU TV 6. The format was a high-class
easy listening sound. In the early 70's the TV sold off the radio stations.
The FM became WQUE (Q 93) with the beautiful music format continuing into
the 70's when it went to a syndicated & automated top 40 format. The
station eventually evolved into a young-skewed urban contemporary and has,
more often than not, been ranked #1 in the market Arbitrons in this decade.
Note that the WQUE calls managed to survive three formats: beautiful music,
top 40 and urban!
