History:
This station began as
WKQR (Kicker), a class A country station serving Citronelle. It came on
the air around 1990. It was acquired by the same ownership as WDLT 98.3,
which continued the country format for a time. The station was eventually
upgraded to C3, with the transmitter site restricted to an area west of
Citronelle. In the mid 90's it went southern gospel as WHXT. In 1999, changed
to "Jammin' Oldies Q102", WQUA, targeted to black audiences. However, it
is too far out of town for a C3 signal to be competitive in Mobile.
