History:
Since the late 50's
this station has been an independent easy listening outlet, with the called
WPEX, later changed to WMEZ. Station was owned by a F T C Brewer Company,
a local stereo dealer who used the station to promote the sale of upscale
sound equipment. For much of the 80's and 90's was a sister station to
WBSR AM. Was a "Schulke" beautiful music station during the height of that
format's success. Went to easy listening vocals in the early 90's. Now
calls itself Soft Rock 94.1 with call letters rarely mentioned. Licensed
to Pensacola, this station enjoys much higher ratings there than in Mobile,
though it's transmitter site is in Baldwin County.
