This station started
out in 1964 as a local Moss Point-Pascagoula station with the calls WACY
(with WACY AM 1460, which went dark in the early 60's). The format was
top 40 and the moniker was "Whacky". Later was country as WCIS. It became
a Mobile market station after upgrading to class C2 and erecting a tower
closer to Mobile. From that point, it started as WZBA "Bay" Country, but
made no impact against market leader WKSJ. Went to oldies, then silent
for a while, then into LMA with AM black station WGOKJ as WYOK, playing
rap music. In 1999, swapped frequencies with Classic Country 104.1 WDWG,
which now occupies 104.9.
