[Article] From the Florala News

Owned by Florala Broadcasting Company (Robert Williamson)

History:
Broadcasting Yearbook says this station came on the air in 1979, although a contributor from the area has suggested 1982 as the actual on-air date.  The station seems to have had a Religious format for most of its early life.  Ownership of the station changed from J.C. Tew to Robert Williamson in 2000.  Williamson is also the mayor of Florala.  Under his ownership, the station had stints with Christian contemporary music, then Country with Religious programming interspersed through the day.  By 2011, the station was doing Classic Hits, with local news and sports.

In 2019, Florala Broadcasting acquired noncommercial religious station WTJT in Baker, Florida. At some point after that acquisition, they began simulcasting that station's religious programming on this station.  It appears that lasted until May 2024 when the station was reported to be airing a Variety Hits format with music from the 60's through today.  Today, the station does not have a website, but on their web stream it's said the WKWL calls stand for "What Kim Williamson Loves".
